It is relatively easy to file for divorce in Illinois. We are effectively a no-fault state--the only ground for the divorce needed is that there irreconcilable differences exist between the parties which have caused the marriage to become irretrievably broken.  Under Illinois law,   improper, inappropriate, illegal or even reprehensible behavior is not likely to influence the result of the support or property allocation issues.

Divorce often has a broad range of consequences that clients often initially fail to consider. Issues such as what constitutes marital and non-marital property as well as the implications of divorce on family-owned or closely held businesses need to be resolved as part of any divorce proceeding. In addition, children issues are central to any divorce proceeding. Child support, child custody and visitation, paternity, and adoptions are extremely sensitive and emotional issues that need to be resolved with the best interests of the child as the primary goal.
